With its towers above the village, the Gstaad Palace has been Gstaad's emblem since 1913. The hotel is still family-run and, winter and summer alike, a meeting place for guests from all over the world – for skiing in the Saanenland, the Menuhin Festival or simply the calm of the mountains.
Gstaad is about 200 kilometres from Zurich Airport. Your chauffeur meets you in the arrivals hall and drives you in one go right up to the hotel – without the several changes the train journey involves. The price is calculated on the actual route and fixed before you book.
The drive and arriving at the hotel
The drive usually takes two and a half to three hours. It follows the motorway to Bern and Spiez, then runs through the Simmental valley via Zweisimmen and Saanenmöser to Gstaad. We skirt the car-free promenade in the village centre; the approach to the Palace climbs the hill straight into the forecourt.
In winter the roads into the Saanenland are well maintained; in snowfall we allow extra time. For morning flights home we recommend setting off correspondingly early.
Tips for your stay
- For trips with ski gear or lots of luggage, the V-Class is the best choice.
- The Gstaad Menuhin Festival in summer takes place in churches across the Saanenland – an hourly chauffeur takes you comfortably to the concerts.
