From 24 October to 1 November 2026 the tennis world plays in Basel: what you should know about the ATP 500 tournament at the St. Jakobshalle, how to get tickets, where to stay and how to travel relaxed from Zurich Airport and back after the evening matches.
At the end of October Basel becomes Switzerland's tennis capital. The Swiss Indoors are among the largest indoor tournaments in the world and belong to the ATP 500 category, the tour's second-highest tier below the Masters events. Around 60,000 spectators come to the St. Jakobshalle every year, and the list of winners reads like a who's who of tennis β led by Roger Federer, who won the tournament in his home town ten times.
This guide summarises what you should know for a visit in 2026: dates, tickets, accommodation and the journey from Zurich Airport. All details are as of October 2026; the organiser publishes the exact order of play.

Tickets and the best time to visit
Tickets are available through the official Swiss Indoors ticket sales. The evening sessions and the weekend with the semi-finals and final are most in demand; if you want to see particular matches, book early. During the week the day sessions are often more relaxed and offer several matches in a row.
Allow enough time for entry, especially before evening matches. There is catering in the hall, so you can also stay for a whole day.
Getting there from Zurich Airport
For the drive from Zurich Airport to Basel we plan about 103 minutes on the fixed route; outside rush hours it is often quicker. The route follows the A1 and A3 through Aargau and the Fricktal. All details on the route, price and rush hours are in Zurich Airport to Basel.
The St. Jakobshalle is on the south-eastern edge of the city, close to the motorway. The driver can drop you right at the hall or take you to your hotel first. If you want to watch a match on your arrival day, allow a buffer; on weekday late afternoons traffic around Zurich is heavy.
After the evening match: how to get back
Evening matches often finish late. Trams and buses stop right in front of the hall but are full after the match. If you are staying in Zurich, Lucerne or Bern or flying early the next morning, a pre-booked return journey pays off.
Agree a meeting point with the driver a little away from the main entrance and an approximate time; message us on WhatsApp if the match runs late. Journeys between midnight and 6 am fall under the 20 % night tariff, which is shown immediately when booking.

Accommodation: Basel, the surroundings or Zurich
During tournament week hotels in Basel are in demand. Good alternatives are towns in the surrounding area such as Pratteln, Muttenz or Rheinfelden and β for guests staying in Zurich anyway β a return trip in the evening. If you stay in the tri-border area, for example in Weil am Rhein or Saint-Louis, you need valid ID for the cross-border journeys.
Enter the hotel name when booking; the driver will then plan the approach through the one-way streets of Basel's city centre.
Basel beyond the tennis
Between matches a trip into the city is worthwhile: the old town on the Rhine, the cathedral with its view over the river, the Kunstmuseum and the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen. At the end of October it is cool but often still sunny, and a walk along the Rhine is part of every visit to Basel.

For groups, companies and VIP guests
Many companies use the Swiss Indoors for client events. For groups of up to seven the V-Class is ideal; for larger groups we coordinate several vehicles arriving together. For guests with special requirements the S-Class is available.
Invoicing with VAT shown and, on request, a cost centre is described in Corporate transfers in Zurich. For schedules with several stops, such as hotel, hall and restaurant, an hourly booking is often the simplest solution.
