That is exactly when the onward journey becomes a test of patience: the station beneath the airport empties, frequencies thin out, and anyone heading to Lucerne, Basel, Bern or the mountains often faces an unplanned overnight stay. What still runs at Zurich Airport at night
Zurich Airport is well connected to the Swiss rail network late into the evening, but after midnight the choice becomes small. Regional trains to Zurich main station run longest; long-distance services to other parts of the country end earlier. If you land after 11 pm, collect your luggage and pass passport control, you frequently miss the last train to your destination region. On weekdays and Sundays the night timetable is reduced further.
Taxis at the rank outside arrivals exist at night, but not always in sufficient numbers. When several flights land at once, a queue forms, and for longer journeys outside the canton you need to negotiate the fare in advance – at night, taxis generally apply different tariffs than during the day. Do not count on what you would have paid in the afternoon.

Important: spontaneous requests after 11 pm

For this reason, between 11 pm and 6 am we cannot accept requests via the online form for journeys due to start within the next two hours. The booking system tells you so and offers to put you in touch with us directly via WhatsApp – we often find a short-notice solution, but we can only promise one with an advance booking.
The rule of thumb: book your night transfer as soon as your flight number is fixed. Then driver, vehicle and child seats are reserved, and after landing you have just one task left – finding your name sign.

First: enter your flight number when booking, not just the scheduled landing time. Only then can the pickup be adjusted automatically. Second: choose the vehicle by luggage, not just by passengers – after night flights, more suitcases tend to come together than planned.
